Teston Sluice Refurbishment receives full marks in recent CCS audit
Our Teston Sluice Refurbishment project has recently received 45/45 in a recent Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) audit. The CCS help support the construction industry to raise its standards in being a considerate constructor and build trust with the public.
The work we are carrying out on the Teston Sluice Refurbishment project will restore the gate, built in 1974, which is in a state of mechanical and electrical deterioration resulting in a risk of failure to the structure's operation. The project aims to enhance the natural, historic, and built environment and provide safe access all year round to the lock site as well as protect the community from the risk of flooding.
The CCS report highlights the site team’s efforts to care for the environment, with a wide range of environmental plans in place and all flood protection plans deliver compliance with VolkerStevin’s net zero corporate commitment for 2030. The site team also has regular briefings on wildlife, endangered species and identification of invasive species.
The report also praises the team’s dedication to leave a lasting, positive impact on the community. Throughout the duration of the project, the team has been proactive in engaging with the public, visiting local schools to talk about the career opportunities available in construction, welcoming work experience students to site and undertaking litter picks in the local area.
Congratulations to the Teston team!
