We recently hosted two work experience students at our Leigh Flood Storage Area and Teston Sluice Gates projects. Both students got the opportunity to shadow our engineers on site and get a firsthand experience of what it is like to work on a live construction project.
Rhys Gabriel, student at Hugh Christie School currently studying maths and chemistry, was based on our Leigh project and Callum Hughes, who was based on our Teston site, is a student at Rochester College studying design and technology, maths and physics. Callum and Rhys assisted our engineers with surveys, setting up site control, inspecting temporary works and inspecting permanent works vs the drawings.
Rhys and Callum were both full of enthusiasm and impressed our site teams with their passion for engineering. It is great to be playing a part in helping to shape young engineers’ futures.
