New Wear Footbridge volunteers at Love, Amelia

Members of our team working on the New Wear Footbridge have recently volunteered their time to help out at a local baby bank charity called Love, Amelia.

Two people sorting through clothes at a baby bank.

Love, Amelia provides new and preloved items and equipment to children who are experiencing poverty and hardship throughout Tyne and Wear and County Durham.

The charity receives hundreds of donations such as clothes, bouncers, toys, moses baskets and buggies. The team dedicated a total of 10 hours to help sort through clothes and to fix and clean broken toys, which will go onto support over 300 children this month.

Last year the team worked with Love, Amelia as part of their ‘Giving Tree’ campaign. An office Christmas tree was set up and decorated with gift tags, each tag specified an item which would be donated to the charity and given to families who were struggling around the festive period. The gifts included toys and games which were given to children as well as their parents/carers. The team are looking forward to taking part in the ‘Giving Tree’ campaign again this year.

“Volunteering at Love, Amelia has been such a rewarding experience. Sorting through clothes and repairing toys might seem small but knowing that these items will bring comfort and joy to over 300 children this month makes every minute worth it. It’s amazing to see how we can come together to make a difference for families who need it most."
