Tebay - 650V power supply upgrade
In September 2023 VolkerSite Services (VSS) supplied 24 CTX units to provide office space and welfare for the VolkerRail project at Tebay, due to be onsite until November 2024, and then extended to March 2025.
The site compound is located just off the M6 motorway and adjacent to the River Lune.
The isolated nature of the site gave the site team issues with the available electrical supply. VSS worked with the site team to provide a load shedding system to ensure the site welfare arrangement was large enough to accommodate all staff, without drawing too much power. The load shedding system also allows the site to reduce their Carbon footprint by up to 50% and reduce generator fuel costs.
Including a mix of office space, meeting rooms, canteens, and a prayer room the units provide accommodation for 50 personnel. Also supplied by VSS were a range of options including furniture, generators, fuel tank, storage containers and full plumbing and electrical connections.
VSS also supplied a full contract crane lift and installation and worked closely with the clients temporary works team.
