Southsea Coastal Defence Scheme
In January 2021, VolkerSite Services was awarded a contract by VSBW, a VolkerStevin and Bosaklis Westminster joint venture, to supply and install two temporary buildings as office accommdation for the Southsea coastal defence scheme.
VolkerSite Services provided two separate buildings, one for site operatives and one for office staff, using a total of 39 CTX units. Twenty two new units were purchased for the VolkerSite Services fleet to meet the requirements for this project.
The units were installed using a 50T mobile crane under a VolkerSite Services contract lift. Covering a total floor area of 578m2, it took the VolkerSite Services team two weeks to install the units.
Once installed, the buildings comprised of staff offices, meeting rooms, kitchen areas and an open plan canteen, a reception and public liason office, induction rooms, changing rooms and toilets, as well as a security unit.
As well as supplying the VSBW project team with a full furniture fit out of the accomdation units, VolkerSite Services also collaborated with the VolkerWessels UK ICT team to develop a more functional ICT installation.
VolkerSite Services cut out data/IT boxes within the units to allow VolkerWessels UK ICT team to utilise the prefabricated conduits within the panels to install all IT cabling. Utilising the prefabricated conduits eliminates the need for any surface mounted trunking and provides a professional looking finish. Our team also installed fascia’s to the cabins to improve the overall appearance.
The units will be on hire for the next five years.
