Brent Cross West Station
In October 2020, VolkerSite Services supplied 62 CTX units to create site office space for VolkerFitzpatrick and their client, Barnet Council.
VolkerFitzpatrick was awarded the job to build a new rail station on the Midland Main Line and Thameslink routes in London. Brent Cross West Station, due to open in 2022, will be the first major new mainline station in London in over a decade.
It will be positioned on the Midland Mainline, between existing Hendon and Cricklewood stations, enabling through journeys from Bedford to Brighton. Of the 62 CTX units supplied, VolkerSite Services purchased 49 new units for the project. To speed up the installation process, the VolkerSite Services team used a telehandler on site to offload the units. The telehandler offloaded the units from the wagons and positioned them onto the foundation pads, close to their final location. The team then used a 55tonne mobile crane to install the units into their final location.
On hire to VolkerFitzpatrick for two years, the office space comprises welfare facilities, meeting rooms, disabled toilets, showers and canteen space. In addition, VolkerSite Services also installed new furinture for VolkerFitzpatrick’s client, and two new balcony bays overlooking the project, with four external staircases. VolkerSite Services offers a full turnkey package, including installation, full groundworks and engineering support, as well as full facilities management and maintenance.
The team can also supply ancillary items such as water tanks, septic tanks, COSHH store containers, and service site compounds. For this site, the team installed four external stairways, air conditioning units, emergency lighting and fire alarm systems, hand dryers and zip boilers.
