Acton Bridge
Working with Carmet and Hydropol, VolkerMarine Services provided marine services on the installation of a new hydroelectric power plant, being installed on the River Weaver. We used our Linkflote pontoons to transport a host of heavy plant and equipment from Acton Bridge to Dutton Weir.
The equipment transported included:
- 35t Excavator
- 65t Crawler crane
- 100t Mobile crane
- 13t Archimedes’ screw
- Piles
- Piling frame
These operations utilised the VolkerMarine Services 12m steel loading ramps that were used to track the equipment onto the pontoon barge, while the VolkerMarine Services team managed the pontoon installation and detailed ballasting plan. Due to the tight nature of the site the versatility of the modular Linkflote system was key to providing a solution.
