A31 bridge replacement - marine access
VolkerMarine Services was appointed by VolkerFitzpatrick to supply EZ Dock plastic pontoon sections, plastic cubes, access gangways and handrailing, for work being carried on the A31 Ringwood Road widening scheme. VolkerMarine Services also provided both access and demolition containment underneath two bridges.
Working with restricted head room, VolkerMarine Services installed the EZ Dock sections then covered the surface with visqueen and plywood, to provide containment for the demolition and construction of the new bridge.
Over the 20-week period the mobilisation team attended site several times to reconfigure the pontoons, to suit the different phases of demolition and construction.
A work boat was also provided to facilitate a survey of the bridge prior to the works commencing.
