Women in Construction Week 2025: Meet Nadine Bold

As part of Women in Construction week, we’re sharing stories from some of the talented women across our business. They’ll be reflecting on why they chose a career in construction, their career journeys so far, and their advice for other women considering a similar career path.

First up is Nadine Bold. Nadine joined VolkerStevin almost eight years ago as an Apprentice Engineer and has since progressed to a Senior Engineer on our HS2 project. Nadine has also achieved her IEng status from the Institution of Civil Engineers. We spoke to Nadine to find out why she chose to pursue a career in construction and what she enjoys most about working in the industry.

Nadine said: “I chose to pursue a career in construction as throughout school I always enjoyed maths and problem solving. I wanted the satisfaction of creating something physical and to see the direct results of my work. I also knew that the construction industry offered a wide range of roles and opportunities for advancement.

“The thing I enjoy most about my career is problem solving, each project comes with its own unique challenges, requiring creative problem solving and innovation. I enjoy working with various people of specialised trades to develop my own knowledge and skills. It is a challenging but rewarding career.”
