Empowering Women in Construction

We recently had members of our team take part in the VolkerWessels UK EMPOWER female career development programme, an initiative dedicated to advancing female talent and fostering an inclusive work environment. It not only boosts participants confidence but enables them to develop a targeted action plan for success. Christina, Hannah, Nadine and Molly joined colleagues from across the wider VolkerWessels UK group, coming together to develop new skills, build confidence, and support one another throughout the journey.

The programme, delivered over multiple sessions, provided participants with a range of learning experiences focused on teamwork, self-reflection, leadership development and effective communication. It created a space for open discussions, collaboration and knowledge sharing which has helped to strengthen connections across different teams. The experience culminated in final presentations, where participants had the opportunity to showcase their insights, growth and key takeaways from the programme.

A standout aspect of the course was the strong camaraderie and encouragement shared among the group. Throughout the journey, they continuously supported and motivated one another, reinforcing a positive and empowering learning environment. Additionally, the programme helped lay the foundation for creating a stronger female network within the business, providing a valuable platform for mentorship, peer support, and career development.
