VolkerStevin host a series of supply chain and procurement events

We recently held the first of our ‘Closer to Fewer’ supply chain and procurement events.

People sat around tables at an event.

As part of our supply chain and procurement strategy ‘Closer to Fewer’ we recognise the importance of building long-term, close and successful relationships with our supply chain. To support this, we will be hosting regular and open engagement sessions to share important information such as business updates, key messages, clear expectations and best practice and lessons learnt.

The main focus of these initial sessions was safety and behaviours. Throughout the sessions everyone took part in interactive group discussions and quizzes to help embed knowledge and gain feedback and ideas from our supply chain partners. Already the events have been a huge success which everyone enjoyed and engaged with.

Duncan Aspin, HSEQS and Information Management Director, said: “These events are a fantastic opportunity for us to help our supply chain understand our commitments and standards when it comes to safety. Several topics were covered in the session including Safety Ripple, Plant People Interface and how we can embrace and adopt new digital technologies making our sites even safer."

“By working together with our supply chain partners we learn from each other’s experiences and improve our safety standards across all projects.”

Alistair Mackenzie, Head of Procurement at VolkerStevin, emphasised: “Our supply chain partners help us deliver our projects successfully and most importantly safely. Our standards and procedures show us how to be safe, but it's our behaviours that ensure it. It's essential we collectively adopt the right behaviours and work collaboratively together.”

We have already held events in Sunderland and Preston and next week the team will be in London and Exeter.
