Southsea Coastal Scheme gets ‘Highly Commended’ at the British Construction Industry Awards
Congratulations to the Southsea Coastal Scheme team who got ‘Highly Commended’ for Sub-frontage 1 in the Placemaking Project of the Year award at this year’s British Construction Industry Awards.
Twenty five categories were awarded at a gala dinner in London, bringing together whole project teams from clients, architects, designers and contractors.
This category recognises initiatives that have improved the final outcome of a project to create quality public spaces that enhance infrastructure to the level where people not only want to use it, but they enjoy using it too.
In its 37th year, these awards are recognised as the ones to win in the construction industry, being jointly organised by New Civil Engineer and the Institution of Civil Engineers.
The £185m Southsea Coastal Scheme is the UK’s largest Local Authority led FCERM Scheme. The scheme stretches 4.5km from Old Portsmouth to Eastney and the new defences will reduce the risk of coastal flooding and erosion to more than 10,000 homes, 700 businesses, 3 scheduled monuments and 74 listed structures.
Well done to everyone involved!
