RTWE awarded another impressive 48/45 in a recent CCS audit

Rother Tidal Walls – East (RTWE), for the second time this year, has achieved an ‘outstanding’ score in their recent Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) audit. The project has once again received the full 15 marks in each key area, plus an additional three best practice points.

The first best practice point was awarded for the introduction of hypoglycaemic kits around site, placing these kits around the site office, site vehicles and other site touch points. The team identified the need for improved support in managing hypoglycaemic incidents, since implementation the kits have proved useful and provided practical solutions to enhance the team’s ability to respond effectively to hypoglycaemic instances.

The second point was awarded for the project team’s innovative grass cutting method. The team was faced with challenging and difficult terrain, which was also a Great Crested Newt (GCN) licensed area, constraining the methodology which could be used to cut the grass. This area spans over 6.5km along the embankments, adjacent to the river, and falls within a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The team used a Robocut, an all-terrain remote control work platform, which enhances safety by removing the requirement of operators as it is digitally controlled. The machine enabled the team to cut the grass at a level which is required to comply with the GCN license.

The project received its third best practice point for the integration of the Type Dynamics Indicator (TDI®) across site. TDI® is a powerful testing tool for team building, promoting self-awareness and understanding team dynamics and is widely used in leadership development, change management and career guidance. At RTWE, TDI® was uniquely applied to the entire site team, enabling individuals at all levels to understand and collaborate effectively, build trust and reduce conflict. The initiative helped to align roles with skills, driving cohesion and productivity.

Well done to the RTWE team for this amazing achievement!
