VolkerGround Engineering invest in new Movax impact hammers
Preston-based foundation specialist, VolkerGround Engineering, has invested in the newly developed Movax SG-50V side-grip and ID25H impact hammers. The new impact hammers will allow the company to operate in more challenging environments, expand its portfolio, improve its capabilities in the UK rail sector and diversify its foundation engineering and piling services.
The new Movax impact hammers also enable the company to provide more versatile solutions to pile installation, by complimenting the existing leader rig fleet. The hammers are mounted onto 24t excavation plant, provided by sister company VolkerBrooks and are able to place and drive piles in a variety of challenging environments.
Both impact hammers are manufactured by world renowned Finnish manufacturer, Movax. The Movax side-grip plant already has a well-established record within the UK, particularly in the rail environment as it can be easily mounted on standard road/rail equipment.
In addition to easy integration with the existing leader rig fleet, the equipment is able to produce greater driving energy within a more compact overall size than available from competitor alternatives.
"We are currently the only company in the country to have purchased the newly developed ID25H impact hammer, which has recently been made available from Movax after an extensive period of research and development. Our investment in both pieces of piling equipment represents a significant step forward for our business and will enable us to provide improved services in the rail sector, as well as widening our portfolio of techniques for traditional sheet piling work."
