Southsea Coastal Scheme attend EBP South Solent STEM fair

Some of the team working on the Southsea Coastal Scheme recently attended the EBP South Solent primary STEM fair at Fareham College’s Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training campus.

The team spoke to pupils, aged between 9-11 years, about the coastal scheme and the opportunities available within the engineering sector as well as challenging some of the perceptions associated with roles in this sector. The children also worked in teams to plan and build the tallest, free standing spaghetti tower, using just spaghetti and mini marshmallows. This activity helped simulate the planning and engineering processes behind construction projects.

Throughout the day the team spoke with approximately 100 pupils, hopefully inspiring them to consider a career in engineering!
